Common Name or Meaning The Splendid Acanthephippium

Found in the Moluccas, Sulawesi, New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Fiji, New Caledonia, Tonga, Vanuatu and Wallis and Futna in forests in deep leaf litter at elevations of sealevel to 1300 meters as a large sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with ovoid to fusiform, 4 to 6 noded pseudobulbs ewnvwlopws by persistent sheaths and carry 2 to 3, apical obovate, plicate, acute to apiculate, long petiolate leaves that blooms at any time of the year on a lateral, arising from the lowest node on a new growth, 3 to 5 flowered, 5.2" to 6.4" [13 to 16 cm] long, racemose inflorescence with cymbiform, foliaceous, narrowly ovate-lanceolate, acute floral bracts
