Found in southern Colombia as a large sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with spindle-shaped, slightly compressed pseudobulbs carrying 3, apical, erect leaves that blooms in the later summer and early fall on a terminal, erect, 6 to 12" [15 to 30 cm] long, to twenty flowered inflorescence
