Found in Fr Guiana, Surinam and Brazil as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with an enlarged stem, almost a pseudobulb, much more so than any other Brassavola, enveloped by a single, stout, leaf sheath and a few small ones below and carrying a single, apical, erect, terete, acute leaf that blooms on an erect, 4 to 6 flowered inflorescence carrying night scented flowers.
