Common Name Lawrence's Brassia [English Orchid Enthusiast 1800's]

Found in French Guiana, Surinam, Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil as a medium to large sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte at elevations of 265 to 1200 meters with narrowly ovoid-ellipsoid, complanate, lightly sulcate pseudobulbs subtended by 4 to 5 pairs of distichous, imbricate sheaths, the upper pair leaf-bearing with the blades shorter than the 2 apical, narrowly oblong-elliptic, attenuate to the channeled petiolate base, acute leaves that blooms in the spring on a sub-erect arching, racemose, denesly 7 to 11 flowered, to 12 to 16" [30 to 40 cm] long inflorescence with minute floral bracts and holding the flowers above the leaves and arising on a a mature pseudobulb.
