Found in Sabah Borneo in mossy lower montane forests at elevations of 2100 to 3100 meters as a large sized, cold growing, epiphyte on logs or terrestrial on rocks with a flattened leaf bearing stem carrying many, coriaceous, elliptic to obovate, tapering strongly at both ends, amplexicaul, unequally bilobed apically, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the winter, again in the late spring and again in the fall on a terminal, paniculate, to 8" [to 20 cm] long, with lateral branches of 3" [7.5 cm] long, laxly, successively few to many flowered inflorescence with imbricating, triangular bracts towards the apex through which the flowers appear
