Common Name Alexander's Bulbophyllum

Found in Madagascar in forests at elevations of 700 to 1500 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte or semi-lithophyte with a very thick rhizome entirely enveloped by narrowly adpressed sheaths and carrying close-set, ovoid, glossy, yellow brown, 4-angled pseudobulbs carrying 2 apical, oblong-ligulate to ligulate, coriaceous leaves that are slightly attenuate towards the base which blooms in the summer on a basal 16" [40 cm] long, densely 12 to 15 flowered inflorescence with 5 to 6 adpressed sheaths and carrying relexed flowers.
