Common Name The Large Leafed Bulbophyllum - In China Da Ye Juan Ban Lan

Found in Guizhou, Xizang and Yunnan provinces of China, the eastern Himalayas, Myanamar, Thaialand and Laos in broad leaved forests on rocks at elevations around 1700 to 2000 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome that has to 4" [10 cm] between each ovoid-cylindric pseudobulb carrying a single, elliptic to elliptic-oblong, leathery, obtuse apically, gradually narrowing below into the elongate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on 1 to 2, basal, erect, 6 to 12" [15 to 30 cm] long, 4 to 8 flowered, umbellate inflorescence with 3 to 5 tubular sheaths and lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate floral bracts.
