Common Name Bittner's Bulbophyllum - In China Tuan Hua Shi Dou Lan
Flower Size 2" Long [5 cm]
This small sized, hot growing species is only from Thailand in evergreen broad leaved forests on tree trunks at elevations around 1700 meters and has a woody rhizome with 1.2 to 2" [3 to 5 cm] between each, garlic-like shaped, 4 ribbed pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, oblong, subobtuse, contracted below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late spring to early summer, arising from the base of the newest formed pseudobulb with a sheathed, thick, [3+] , 4" [10 cm] long, several flowered inflorescence that has an apical cluster of flowers held at mid-leaf height.
