Found only in New Guinea in range forests at elevations around 1000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with subparellel to the rhizome, cylindrical, pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, obliquely linear, apiculate, narrowing into the base leaf that blooms in the late spring on a short few bracted, single flowered inflorescence with very small, apiculate, distinctly shorter than the ovary floral bract

Schlechter states that the flowers are reddish with darker stripes
