Found in New Guinea in the Torricelli Range at elevations of 1000 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with thin, ovoid psuedobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, oblong-ligulate, subacute leaf that is petiolate basally and blooms in the spring in New Guinea on an erect, 3 flowered, 14" [to 35 cm] long inflorescence with elliptic floral bracts. This species is similar and related to B tridentatum but differs in the weaker growth and the toothed labellum.
