Found in New Guinea on trees at elevations around 400 meters as a medium sized, hot growing epiphyte with obliquely cylindrical, adnate to the rhizome pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect-patent, obliquely ligulate, apiculate leaf that blooms in the earlier spring on a short single flowered inflorescence with apiculate, as long as the ovary floral bracts.

Schlechter states that this species is one of a few totally glabrous species in this section and the flowers are yellow.
