Common Name The Single Flowered Bulbophyllum

Flower Size 1.4" Long [3.5 cm]

Found in Sumatra, Java, Borneo and the Philippines in hill and lower montane forests or dense riverine forests at elevations of 600 to 1800 meters as a small to medium sized, hot growing, unifoliate epiphyte and ocassional terrestrial with a creeping rhizome giving rise to distinct, .8 to 8" [2 to 20 cm] between each, slender, erect, terete and slightly flattened, cylindrical pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, oblong, elliptic to obovate, leathery, acute to acuminate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring and summer on an erect to patent, 5" [12.5 cm] long inflorescence with conspicuous sheaths, giving rise to a single [if more than one then you probably have what was known as B sociale], foul smelling - sometimes pleasant, fleshy, flowers that do not open fully.
