Found in Assam India, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim, Southern China, Myanamar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam in temperate forests at elevations of 1000 to 2100 meters as a miniature sized, cool to warm growing epiphyte with globose, close-set pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, linear, subacute, basally narrowing into the channeled petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a basal, 5" [12.5 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence just exceeding leaf height.
