Common Name The Striate Bulbophyllum [refers to the striped flowers] - In China Xi Bing Shi Dou Lan

Found in the southeastern Yunnan province of China, eastern Himalayas, Assam, Bangladesh, Thailand and Vietnam onm rocks in thickets on limetone slopes at elevations of 1600 to 2330 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing lithophyte with a slender, woody rhizome with 1.2 to 2.4" [2 to 6 cm] between each obpyriform to ovoid, rugose, purple pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptic retuse, many veined, green above, purple blotched below, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall arising from the rhizome or the pseduobulb base on a shorter than the leaf, slender, 2 to 3.2" [5 to 8 cm] long, subumbellate to shortly racemose, erecct, strongly basally recurved, 2 to 4 flowered inflorescence with tubular basal sheaths and the upper ones distant, lanceoalte and acute and has linear, acute floral bracts
