Found in Papua New Guinea in lowland rainforests as a small sized, hot ot warm growing epiphyte on branches at the edge of the forest or on the lower trunks of large trees at elevations of 40 to 1200 meters with a thick, woody, bristle covered rhizome with 2" [5 cm] spaced, ovoid to cylindrical pseudobulbs enveloped bsally by a ring of bristles and carrying a single, apical, oblong, channeled into a terete petiole basally, leathery, green to yellow green leaf and has a slender, arising from the rhizome between pseudobulbs, a 1 1/8" to 3 5/8" [3 to 9 cm] long, inflorescence with 5 basal overlapping sheathing bracts giving rise to a solitary, fragrant [sweet honey], sort lived [1 to 3 days] flower that has a moveable labbellum all occuring in the fall through spring. A cool to hot growing species that needs a large mount, partial shade and constant moisture.
