Common Name Weinthal's Bulbophyllum [Australian First Collector of Species mid to late 1900's] - The Boltched Wax Orchid
Flower Size 1 3/4" [4 cm]
A mat forming, miniature sized, warm to cool growing, unifoliate epiphyte found in rainforests on pine trees in Queensland and New South Wales Australia at elevations of 650 to 1200 meters with conical to ovoid, crowded pseudobulbas carrying a single, apical, leaf where it blooms on a 1 to 1 1/2" [2.5 to 3 cm] long inflorescence with wide open flowers occuring in the fall. This species needs cool to cold temperatures, ample water, deep shade and because of it's creeping growth habit needs a mount of tree fern or wood.
