Common Name Alleizett's Calanthe - In China Chang Bing Xia Ji Lan

Found in southeastern Yunnan province of China and Vietnam in montane forests at elevations around 1600 to 1700 meters as a large sized, cool growing terrestrial with obscure, conic pseudobulbs enveloped by basal leaf sheaths and carrying 2 to 4, well developed at blooming, plicate, 5 veined, oblanceolate to lanceolate, acute to acuminate, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms on an erect, axillary, 8 to 12" [20 to 30 cm] long, 10 flowered inflorescence with persistent, narrowly lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts.
