Common Name The Two Lobed Calanthe [refers to the lip] - In China Er Lie Xia Ji Lan
Flower Size .8 to 1.4" [2 to 3.5 cm]
Found in southwestern China, Nepal, Sikkim, Burma and Thailand in thickets along streams at elevations of 1000 to 2800 meters as a medium to large sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with stout, cylindric pseudobulbs carrying 3 to 4, unequal, broadly elliptic, caudate-acuminate, undulate, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on a terminal, pubescent, 14.4" to 22.4" [36 to 57 cm] long, subdensely to densely many flowered inflorecence with lanceolate, acuminiate sheaths and linear-lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts.
