Common Name The Short Spurred Calanthe - In China Bang Ju Xia Ji Lan
Flower Size .6 to .8" [1.5 to 2 cm]
Found in southern Chian, Taiwan, Assam, Bangladesh, eastern Himalayas, Myanamar, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam in dense forests and along valleys at elevations of 800 to 1300 meters as a medium to large sized, cool growing terrestrial with small pseudobulbs envelpoped by leaf sheaths and carrying 2 to3, narrowly elliptic, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on a lateral, usually solitary, erect, to 16" [40 cm] long, racemose, successively many flowered inflorescence
