Found in Anhui, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan and Zhejiang provinces of China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan in shady and moist places in forests or along ravines at elevations of 600 to 1500 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with short, subovoid pseudobulbs enveloped by leaf sheaths and carrying 3 to 4, arising after flowering, elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate, glabrous, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on an axillary, densely pubescent, 28" [to 70 cm] long, racemose, sparsely many flowered inflorescence.
