Common Name The Wine-Red Lip Caladenia - Red Lipped Spider Orchid

Flower Size 2.4 to 3.2" [6 to 8 cm]

This small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial species is from Victoria state, Australia at elevations of 300 to 900 meters where it favours mixed eucalypt forests with higher rainfall and has a single, pilose, linear leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, 16" [40 cm] long, 1 to 2 flowered inflorescence carrying fragrant [burnt plastic] flowers and is thought to be pollinated by pseudocopulation by the male Thynnid wasp.
