Common Name or Meaning The Flattened Out Catasetum [refers to the flattened pouch lip]

Found in western Brazil in Rondonia state at elevations of 100 to 300 meters in Amazonian rain forest on dead trees and living palms as a medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with clustered, fusiform, pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several deciduous leaf sheaths and carrying 7 to 8, plicate, arched, oblanceolate leaves and blooms on a male, basal, arched, 10" [25 cm] long, racemose, many flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb with lanceolate stem clasping bracts with to 18 resupinate flowers occurring in the fall in Brazil.
