Found in Peru in wet montane forests at elevations of 800 to 900 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with fusiform pseduobulbs carrying 4 to 6 plicate, elliptic, acuminate, gradually narrowing below into the petillate base leaves that blooms in the later spring and summer on an arching, to 12" [to 30 cm] long, racemose, dark purple, 15 to 20 flowered inflorescence with ovate, acuminate, bright green floral bracts.
