Common Name King Leopold's Cattleya [Belgian King 1800's]
Flower Size 2 3/4" to 4 3/8" [7 to 11 cm]
Found in coastal forests below 100 meters in Southern Brazil as a large, bifoliate to trifoliate, epiphyte with cylindrical, slightly thickened apically pseudobulb subtended by white sheaths and carrying 2 apical, oblong-elliptic, leathery leaves with sharp to serrated edges that blooms in the mid-summer on an erect, few to several [3 to 10] flowered racemose inflorescence that is subtended by a green sheath on a newly arising pseudsobulb and has fragrant flowers.
