Found in Rio de Janiero state of Brazil at elevations around 1000 to 1200 meters as a small sized, cool growing lithophyte with obovate pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, oblong, apiculate, coriaceous, decurved leaf that blooms in the summer on an apical, to 14" [35 cm] long overall, rachis to 4.8" [12 cm] long, sequentially few to several flowered inflorescence arising through a linear-truncate, oblique spathe.
CAUTION - This species would be better placed in Laelia within my taxonomic framework but as of yet it has not been named as such.
