Common Name Endres' Chondroscaphe [German Orchid Collector in Central America 1800's]

Flower Size 1.2" [3 cm]

Found in Costa Rica in extremely wet montane forests at elevations of 950 to 1200 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with a loose fan of distichous, linear basally conduplicate leaves that blooms in the fall on an axillary, 4" [10 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence.

This species has mistakenly been determined to be C bicolor for many years but actually is Chondoscaphe endresii.

Patricia's photo shows the pollina in the triggered position waiting to be caught up by a flying bug.

Synonyms *Chondrorhyncha endresii Schltr. 1921
