Common Name Thien's Benzingia [American Botanist current]

This small sized, epiphytic, fan-shaped, cool to warm growing species is found in western Ecuador at elevations of 800 to 1500 meters in very wet montane cloud forests with no pseudobulbs and 5 to 9, narrowly obovate, acute leaves that are contracted into petioles at the base and blooms in the spring in situ on an axillary, 3 3/4" [9 cm] long, single flowered inflorescenece that holds the flower at midleaf.
