Found in Costa Rica at elevations around 1200 to 1300 meters as a small to medium sized, warm growing epiphyte with a short stem enveloped compeltely by imbricate leafless becoming leaf bearing, strongly conduplicate leaf sheaths and carrying 5 to 7, narrowly obloanceolate, acuminate, becoming conduplicate bsae leaves that blooms on a 1.6" [4 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence occurring in the winter
