Found in the western Sichuan and central Yunnan China on grassy slopes or in mossy rocks along ravines at elevations of 1500 to 3500 meters as a mini-miniature to miniature sized, coo lto cold growing terrestrial with oblong-ellipsoid tubers giving rise to an erect, glabrous stem with 1 to 2, membraneous sheaths and carrying a single, cordate, cordate-ovate to broadly ovate, dark green, spotted red purple above, purple red below, gradulaly narrowing into the amplexicual base leaf that blooms in the late spring and early summer on an erect, terminal, 1 to 2 flowered inflorescence.
