This species is found From Nepal, Bhutan, northeastern India, Burma and Yunnan China in upper montane forests on trees and rocks at elevations around 2200 meters as a small to medium sized, cool growing epiphyte or lithophyte with clustered, 1 3/5" to 2 3/4" [4 to 7 cm] long, ovoid-conical, lightly sulcate pseudobulb that carries 2 apical, oblong, acute, petiolate, plicate, fleshy leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal, erect 6" [15 cm] long inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb carrying lanceolate, acute, reddish brown, deciduous flroal bracts and has up to 10, fragrant [musk] flowers.
