Found in Thailand, Penninsular Malaysia and Borneo on mountain ridges, lower montane forests at elevations of 1000 to 1900 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte or lithophytewith a swollen and somewhat flattened, basally slender, sulcate with age, pink, red to brown pseudsobulb enveloped basally by loose sheaths and carrying 2, elliptic, acute, plicate, 9 nerved, gradually narrowing below into the elongate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the later winter and early spring on an erect, flat, bare, 16.4" [42 cm] long, fractiflex rachis, 10 to 30 flowered inflorescence arising as a new growth emerges with deciduous floral bracts and successively opening flowers.
