Flower Size 1" to 1 5/8" Across [2.5 to 3.5 cm]
Found in eastern Canada as well as all of the United States to the east of the Mississippi river in sunny, marshy areas, pine flatwoods, boggy roadsides and swamps as a small to large sized, cold growing terrestrial with a subterranean, ovoid, cormous pseudobulb carrying 1 to 5 linear-lanceolate, acuminate, ribbed leaves that blooms in the late spring in Florida and summer in the north on a basal, 10" to 2'6" [25 to 75 cm] long, erect to arching, slender, subcapitate, successive several up to 25 flowered inflorescence with ovate, acute floral bracts.
