Found in China, The Ryukyu Islands, Taiwan, Assam, Bangladesh, eastern Himalayas, India, Sri Lanka, Andaman Islands, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Nicobar Islands, Vietnam, Borneo, Java, Lesser Sunda Islands, Moluccas, the Philippines, Sulawesi, Sumatra, Christmas Islands, Bismark Islands, New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Samoa, Santa Cruz Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Caroline Islands and the Mariana Islands as a giant sized, terrestrial at elevations of sealevel to 2000 meters in lowland to tropical montane forests on limestone in deep shade with plicate, lanceolate to ovate-elliptic, acuminate leaves and blooms on a drooping, up to 6" [15 cm] long, 2 to 9 flowered, branched inflorescence hidden in leaf sheaths and ovate to lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts with a few to many [70], fragrant flowers occuring in the summer.
