Found in Malaysia, Java and Sumatra at elevations of 1200 to 1800 meters as a small to medium sized, warm growing terrestrial with erect, dark, shiney green, obliquely oblong-ovate, acute and acumiante abruptly narrowing below into a shiney purple, terete petiolate base leaves that bloom on a from the vertical rhizome, laxly to 12 flowered, 14 to 16.4" [35 to 41 cm] long, erect, robust, shiney purple, fractiflex inflorescence carrying 6, tubular, acute bracts.
