Common Name Blanchet's Cyrtopodium [French Orchid Collector mid 1800's]
Flower Size 1.4" [3.5 cm]
Found in Minas Gerais, Mato Grossa, Distrito Federal and Bahia Brazil at elevations around 1200 meters in sands often among rocks as a medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with the small ovoid to elliptic, clustered pseudobulbs almost always buried under ground, the new leaves arising after it flowers, they are erect, linear, acute, green and glacous. The erect, to 28" [to 70 cm] long, many [15] flowered, racemose to occasional paniculate inflorescence arises well after leaf fall and just before the new growth arises in late spring.
