Found in Florida, Bemize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Bahamas, Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Leewards, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Windwards, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in lower montane forests at elevations around 300 to 700 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with a tuber giving rise to several, erect-patent, ovate, acute, basally round and petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, 1 to 3.2" [2.5 to 8 cm] long, laxly several flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, long-acuminate, basally glabrous and puberulous bracts
