Found from Vietnam, Pennisular Malaysia, Borneo, Sulawesi, Java, Sumatra and the Philippines in evergreen broadleaf and in semi-deciduous and deciduous dry lowland forests and savana-like woodlands at elevations of 800 to 1100 meters as a large sized hot to warm growing epiphyte with ellipsoid, laterally compressed pseudobulbs carrying ligulate, thick, coriaceous, oblique to unequally bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a 2' 5" [72 cm] long, basal, racemose scape that can be arched or pendant with up to 26, fragrant flowers that have brown scarious basal sheaths. This species likes even year round conditions that are humid, warm and with regular fertilizer.
