Common Name The Bug Carrying Cyrtochilum

Found in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador near Quito, Peru and Bolivia at elevations around 1850 to 2250 meters as a medium sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte or terrestrial with ovate or elliptic ovate, laterally compressed, ancipitous pseudobulbs carrying lanceolate, acute, narrowing below into a conduplicate, slight petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall and winter on a basal, very long, many flowered, paniculate inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb with a few widely spaced, branches and carrying many widely spaced flowers.
Distinguished from others by the wiry inflorescence with conspicuous, rounded spathaceous floral bracts and smallish yellow and brown flowers with a stout column usually equipped with minute erect apical auricles.
