Found in Venezuela, Colombia and Peru in dense thickets and brambles in thin soil on large boulders at elevations of 1900 to 2700 meters as a medium sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte or terrestrial with a climbing rhizome giving rise to green, wrinkled, strongly compressed, ovoid pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several persistent, leaf bearing sheaths and carrying 2 to 3, apical, strap-shaped, sharply acute, tightly conduplicate below into the short, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter on an axillary, to 79" [to 200 cm] long, many flowered, paniculate inflorescence with somewhat short branches that can rebranch and can carry up to 8 flowers on each.
