Found in Ecuador and Peru at elevations around 1800 to 3000 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with ovoid-pyriform, lightly compressed pseudobulbs enveloped basally by a short-lived sheath and carrying a single, apical, thin, linear, attenuate below into the narrow conduplicate petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late spring and early summer on an axillary, terete, racemose, 10" [25 cm] long, shorter than the leaf, few to several flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb with spaced, infundibuliform bracts and ovate, acuminate floral bracts
