Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in upper montane cloud forests at elevations around 1700 to 3000 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte or terrestrial on steep banks with narrowly ovate, ancipitous, compressed pseudobulbs enveloped by 2 to more pairs of leafless and leaf bearing sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, linear-lanceolate, acute or shortly acuminate, gradually long-narrowed below into the conduplicate, petiolalte base leaf that blooms in the fall through spring on 1 to 2, axillary, from the base through a leaf sheath, slender, twinning, much longer than the leaves, erect, to 22.4" [to 56 cm] long, arcuate, very loose, shortly few branched, paniculate, several flowered inflorescence with several very close bracts and each short, fractiflex, few flowered branch erect-ascending
