Another Flower? Photo by © Lourens Grobler
Common Name The Flexed Cyrtochilum [refers to the lip]
Flower Size .6" [1.4 cm]
Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru at elevations of 600 to 2700 meters as a medium to large sized, hot to cold growing epiphyte with light green, laterally compressed, deeply longitudinaly grooved pseudobulbs enveloped partially below by several pairs of imbricate, leaf bearing sheaths and carrying 2, apical, thin, fairly stiff, strap shaped, acute, conduplicate leaves that blooms in the summer and fall on an axillary, stout, slightly compressed, to 59" [150 cm] long, erect to arching, paniculate, few to many fractiflex branched, many flowered inflorescence arising on a recently matured pseudobulb with each branch being 12" [30 cm] that rebranch secondarily with up to seven separate branches with each carrying 4 to 8 flowers.
Said to be a highly variable species in flower form. The first photo matches that drawings that I have exactly, the second may be the same species but I cannot prove it.
