This is a medium sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial species from Peru, Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay and can be found in wet forests in open areas at elevations around 540 meters with ovoid to conical pseudobulbs enveloped by leaf bases which in time fall away and leave conspicuous abscission marks and carrying linear-lanceolate, acute, deciduous, basally plicate leaves and blooms in the spring on a robust, erect, to 4' [120 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with apical branching and long-lived, lily scented flowers flowers.
