Found in Java, Borneo, Sulawesi and Sumatra in lower montane forests low on tree trunks or on rocks at elevations of 400 to 1600 meters as a medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte or sometime lithophyte with clustered, 20" [50 cm] long, cane-like stems enveloped by many tubular sheaths carrying many elliptic-lanceolate, acute, basally clasping leaves articulate to the leaf bearing sheaths that blooms in the spring on a short, single flowered inflorescence that arise between the leaves with only a few wide open flowers opening at any one time.
