Found in New Zealand at lower to moderate elevations as as medium to giant sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte or lithophyte with shiny, bright yellow, wiry, woody, brittle, branching, often basally thickened stems carrying several, glossy, linear leaves that are held towards the apex of the stems and have very small hairs on the leaf sheaths that blooms in the later spring and earlier summer on a slender, short, arising near the apex, 2 to 6 flowered inflorescence
