Common Name Dekock's Dendrobium
Flower Size .6 to 1.1" [1.4 to 2.8 cm]
Found in New Guinea in high mountains on mossy trees or in alpine shrubbery and along forest margins at elevations of 2700 to 3800 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with clustered, erect to semipendulous, many shaped, often distinctly constricted towards the middle pseudobulbs carrying 3 to 4, rarely 1, long-linear to short-lanceolate, acute, gree, dark purple to red leaves that blooms in the fall and winter on a short, 1 to 2, rarely 3 flowered inflorescnece arising from the terminal node of the pseudodbulb.
D brevicaule is very similar but has a purplish black anther cap.
