Found the Chinese Himalayas, western Himalayas, Assam, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Myanamar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Taiwan on tree trunks in open forests at elevations of 600 to 2500 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with robust stems carrying oblanceolate leaves that blooms on a subapical, on leafless stems, stiffly arching, 2 to 5.6" [5 to 14 cm] long, to 7 flowered inflorescence with prominent floral bracts
