Common Name The Densely Flowered Dendrobium

Found in the Assam, Bangladesh, Eastern Himalayas, Nepal Burma, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Tibet, Hainan and southern China as a small to medium sized epiphyte or occasional lithophyte, on moss covered trunks or branches of trees at altitudes of 1100 to 1830 meters with erect, tufted, 7 to 12 noded, obscurely 4 angled, fusiform or clavate, 12" [30 cm] long stems with each node half covered by a white sheath and carrying 3 to 5 , towards the apex, elliptic or ovate, persistent, acute leaves where it can bloom from the winter through the fall on pendant, 8" [20 cm], cylindrical, densly flowered racemes with scented, short-lived flowers that arise from nodes at or near the apex of the pseudobulb. This species requires a distinct dry rest from water and fertilizer through the winter months and should be resumed with the onset of new growth in the spring.
