Found in northern Papua and New Guinea and the Molucca Islands and is a varied habitat and sized species found at many elevations but mostly above 2000 meters, both epiphyticly and lithophyticly. It can basically bloom at any time of the year but mid-winter is the most possible on a cluster that surrounds the previous years cane and is below the leaves and it needs constant cool temperatures with a lessening of water and a cessation of fertilizer in the winter months.
