Found in penninsular Malaysia and Borneo in montane forests on steep rocky roadside banks often in exposed locations at elevations of 400 to 1600 meters as a miniature sized, hot to warm growing lithophyte on sandstone and shaleoutcrops or epiphyte with cylindrical, riged, olive to orange pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, elliptic or oblong elliptic, obtuse, minutely mucronate apically, coriaceous, gradually narrowing below into the clasping, petiolate base leaf and blooms in the summer on a from the rhizome, 7.2" [18 cm] long, densely many flowered, terete inflorescence enveloped almost completely by brown, furfuraceous, somewhat inflated bracts and carrying the sweetly scented flower in an arching spray.
